Maritime Media Awards 2019 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the 24th annual Maritime Media Awards has been announced. Over 100 entries were submitted this year in the four publicly nominated Awards honouring the best in journalism, literature, filmmaking and digital innovation promoting Britain’s interests across the maritime sector and generating awareness of current maritime issues.

Richard Clayton, Chairman of the Awards Committee, praised the significant ambition of the shortlisted: “There is a wealth of enthusiasm and dedication for engagement in maritime issues and the Maritime Media Awards is unique in its remit to honour the very best of journalists, writers and filmmakers who help promote Britain’s interests across the maritime sector.

The Awards Committee congratulates all nominees for setting such a high standard in each category, and the task of selecting this year’s winners has been challenging but extremely encouraging.”

The winners of the Maritime Media Awards 2019 will be announced at a ceremony at Drapers’ Hall in London on Thursday, 31 October 2019, and tickets are available here.

Other Awards to be announced at the ceremony include the Desmond Wettern Fleet Award which is presented annually to the HM ship, submarine, Naval Air Squadron or Royal Marine Unit that is judged to have made the best contribution to a positive image of the Royal Navy and the Maritime Fellowship Award for an individual who has made a truly outstanding contribution to stimulating public engagement in maritime issues.

  • The Maritime Media Awards Dinner will be held at Drapers’ Hall, London, EC2N 2AN on Thursday, 31 October 2019. Reservations can be made online at www.maritimefoundation.uk/awards/dinner/. The inclusive cost of the reception and dinner including wines is £110. Payment can be made either by card, cheque or bank transfer.
